Do you ever read one of our Wiki Guides and say to your fine self, “That’s not how I do it.” Why not share your technique with us?
Read through some Wiki Guides to find one that you think you can improve.
Click on the small blue box marked “Edit” or—if you’re looking at the Howcast version of a Wiki Guide—you can click on the link that reads “editing the latest revision.”
Look at the “tags,” the words that relate to this task. If there aren’t any or you think important tags are missing, start typing!
Tags help search engines find your Wiki Guide, so think of words that a user might search for if they wanted to learn how to do what your guide describes.
If you feel the Wiki Guide should be in a different category, or sub-category, change it by clicking on one of the ones offered.
If your revised version is not suitable for readers under 18 years old, click the box under “Mature Content.”
If the current introduction isn’t ideal, type a brief description of your new, improved guide into the box marked “Introduction.”
Take a look at the “You Will Need” section, which lists the items required to follow the guide. Hit “Delete” to erase any of the original items that now are unnecessary in your revision. Add your own items by clicking on the blue “Add” box and entering your additional items.
Move on to the “Instructions” and add or delete steps, tips, warnings, or facts as you see fit.
Hit “Preview” at the bottom right-hand corner of the page to review your new version. If you’re satisfied, hit “Save” at the bottom right-hand corner. If not, hit “Back” on the bottom left-hand corner and continue revising the script. Changed your mind about the whole darn project? Just hit “Cancel” on the bottom left-hand corner.
When you click on the “Changes” button at the top of a Wiki Guide, everything that was added to or deleted from the previous version is highlighted.
